VENJARAMOODU: The police conducted evidence collection with the accused Afaan in the Venjaramoodu massacre case. The first evidence collection was at Salma Beevi's house in Thazhe Pangode, near the Juma Masjid. The area around Pangode police station was filled with people from 6 am, knowing that evidence collection would be held.

Although the police had made arrangements to take Afaan for evidence collection at 8 am, Afaan fell ill at 7.30 am. Later, at 5 pm, Afaan was taken to the house of Salma Beevi, the mother of his father, who was the first he killed. The accused explained to the police without reluctance the place where he killed his grandmother and the way she was attacked with a hammer. Hundreds of people gathered to see the accused.

After the evidence collection here, the accused was taken to his own house in Perumala. After the murder, he had changed his clothes after returning here and went to pawn the necklace stolen from his grandmother.

The evidence collection was completed by 6.30 and he was taken back to the Pangodu police station. Evidence collection will be conducted today at the institution where the gold was pawned, the shop from where the hammer was purchased, and the ATM where the pawned amount was deposited. The accused will be taken back to jail in the evening as the custody period ends today.

The evidence collection was carried out in the case registered by Pangodu police in the murder of the accused's paternal grandmother Salma Beevi. The Venjaramoodu police had arrested the accused for the murder of his brother Afhan, paternal uncle Latif, his wife Shahida, and his girlfriend Farzana. The Venjaramoodu police also filed a custody application the other day. The accused, who will be in jail tomorrow, is likely to be taken into custody by the Venjaramoodu police on Monday.
