THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Venjarammoodu mass murder accused Afaan revealed the real reason for killing his girlfriend Farzana along with his family members. Afaan said he developed a deep hate for Farzana after she started pestering him to return her necklace.

Even Afaan’s family members were aware that he had pawned Farzana's necklace. In the last few days, Farzana kept on asking for her gold necklace, which left Afaan in mental agony. It was after much persuasion that Farzana agreed to visit Afaan’s house on the day of the murder.

After tricking Farzana into thinking his mother’s health condition had worsened, Afaan convinced her to visit the house with him. At some distance away from Nagaroor, Afaan purchased chilli powder from a shop. This was meant to defend if anyone visited his house while Farzana was inside. Afan revealed this while collecting evidence at the house in Perumala yesterday.

Afaan pledged his father’s car just to return Farzana's necklace and wriggle out from her pestering. A native of Mukkunnoor, Venjaramoodu, Farzana was an academically performing student. She had scored a full A+ in class 10 and was an MSc Chemistry student.

Afaan and Farzana studied in the same school. The family thought they were good friends as the two kept their relationship a secret. In his first statement after the murder, Afaan had said that he killed Farzana out of love as he didn’t want her to live without him.
