KOLLAM: CPM State Secretary MV Govindan responded to the discussions that what is important is the creation of Nava Kerala and the third government and that all the issues raised by the delegates can be corrected and moved forward. "The party conference is held for self-criticism and reform. Naturally, there will be discussions and criticism. It is a reform process. We take criticism seriously. Let us correct and move forward," Govindan began his speech with this introduction.
When the second Pinarayi government and the Chief Minister in particular were given a good certificate, there was criticism of the actions of the ministers. There were even allegations that some should be labelled as communist ministers. There was also criticism of the party secretary by name. MV Govindan's reply addressed all this.
"There were criticisms against the party secretary as well. I see all of that as healthy. Because I have not been a party secretary before. If there are shortcomings in words and actions, they will be corrected. Party is what's important. Similarly, everyone should criticize themselves.
Bad trends are increasing. That cannot be allowed. This is a party that was created to improve the living standards of the common people. Living standards of leaders improving is not enough. There must be solutions to the problems of the people. For that, the activities should be well-organized from the branch level. Every party worker and leader should go down to the problems of the common people. Only then will the people come closer to the party. Although the government's position is currently stable, there are many problems in the health and education sectors. The forest and environmental sectors are causing a lot of criticism for the government. Although the image of the police is good, don't pretend not to see the increase in crimes. The spread of drugs is immense."
Party should work towards third government
The necessary discussions and amendments regarding the succession of the government will be held at the party congress. The concessions to be given to the leaders will also be decided there. The next step forward will be with the policy document 'New Ways to Lead Nava Kerala' presented by the Chief Minister at the conference. Changes according to the times should take place in the party along with the society. The local body elections and the subsequent assembly elections are important. The party and the government should move towards the activities to make the third government a reality in the coming days," Govindan said.
