THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in various districts in the state in view of the high temperature. The yellow alert was issued today in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Kannur districts.
IMD has informed that the maximum temperature is likely to rise to 37 degrees Celsius in Kollam and Palakkad districts today and tomorrow and to 36 degrees Celsius (two to three degrees Celsius higher than normal) in Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts. The Meteorological Department has also informed that there is a possibility of hot and humid weather in these districts, except in the hilly areas, due to the high temperature and humid air.
IMD has informed that there will be no disruption to fishing on the Kerala - Karnataka - Lakshadweep coasts today. Meanwhile, there is a warning that heavy rain will be received in various districts on March 11 and 12.

A yellow alert has been issued for the mentioned districts. Isolated heavy rain is expected. Heavy rain is defined as rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
