PATHANAMTHITTA: Minister Veena George was announced as a special invitee to the CPM state committee the other day. Soon after it was announced, senior CPM leader and former MLA A Padmakumar of the district had expressed dissatisfaction. He clarified that his displeasure still continues.

Padmakumar expressed his discontent while talking to a media. He said there is no change in what he said. Veena's nine years of work were given more consideration than his 52 years of work. Veena may be considered because of her capability.

He clarified that if the party allows, he will work in the branch and will be a communist always. He said that he is not afraid of party action and if they want to expel me, let them do it.

The party leadership is discontent with Padmakumar's walkout from the party conference and his subsequent Facebook post. The Pathanamthitta district committee will discuss the issue the day after tomorrow to take action against him. The leaders hope that Padmakumar will not leave the party.

CPM Pathanamthitta district secretariat member and former MLA Padmakumar had the other day said that he had faced betrayal and insult from the party. Many had written comments in support and against his Facebook post. He shared his own picture with the caption, ‘deception, betrayal, insult, balance sheet of 52 years, Lal Salam. He later withdrew the post after it garnered attention.

He posted the FB post after the list of state committee members was released at around 12 noon yesterday. He returned to his native Aranmula without having lunch. Until then, the FB page had only pictures and posts related to the meet.

Padmakumar was angered for not including him in the state committee and the inclusion of Minister Veena George as an invitee from Pathanamthitta.

Padmakumar was a member since the first district committee was formed in Pathanamthitta in 1983 He has been a member of the district secretariat for 36 years. He has been elected to the assembly from Konni. He was former president of the Travancore Devaswom Board. Padmakumar has been a strong spokesperson for the Pinarayi faction. This time, he was one of those considered for the post of district secretary.
