NEW DELHI: An Air India flight from Chicago bound to Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing after suffering technical issues. The Boeing 777-337 aircraft of Air India made an emergency landing at Chicago’s ORD Airport after 10 hours. The aircraft had to return as many of the toilets were clogged.
There were more than 340 passengers on board in first, business and economy classes. The aircraft had 10 toilets. Out of these, two were for first class passengers. Out of these, only one as functional. 'Accommodation has been arranged to minimize the inconvenience to the passengers. Further arrangements will be made to transport them to their destination. The airline has also made arrangements in case the passengers want to cancel their tickets,' an Air India spokesperson said.
An Air India Express flight that left for Sharjah recently with 141 passengers on board was also reported to have made an emergency landing in Trichy after two and a half hours due to a technical glitch. The problem was with the landing gear of the plane. The reason was that the landing gear did not retract after take-off. The technical fault was noticed after take-off from Trichy. After informing the air traffic control, the plane circled in the sky for more than two and a half hours and then landed.
