PATHANAMTHITTA: CPM state secretary MV Govindan stated that healthy discussions and self-criticism took place during the party's state conference and that there are no issues within the party. He emphasised that there is no disagreement within the party and assured that they will move forward unitedly. He also added that Padmakumar is not a big problem for the party.

Padmakumar, a member of the Pathanamthitta district secretariat and former MLA, had publicly expressed his dissatisfaction after not being included in the CPM State Committee. Taking to his Facebook page, Padmakumar stated that he had faced deceit, betrayal, and humiliation within the party. MV Govindan was responding to these remarks.

Meanwhile, CPM Pathanamthitta district secretary Raju Abraham said that the party will seriously consider the situation regarding Padmakumar's post on social media. He also clarified that Padmakumar has removed the post, and that it is customary to invite ministers to the State Committee if they are not already members.

Padmakumar posted on Facebook after the list of State Committee members was released at noon yesterday. He returned to his hometown, Aranmula, without having lunch. Until that time, his Facebook page had featured images and posts related to the conference. His frustration stemmed from not being included in the State Committee and from the inclusion of Minister Veena George as an invitee from the Pathanamthitta district. Padmakumar expressed that giving party positions solely based on parliamentary positions is not fair.

Padmakumar had been a member of the Pathanamthitta District Committee since its formation in 1983, and has been a member of the District Secretariat for 36 years. He was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Konni and is the former president of the Travancore Devaswom Board. He was known as a strong spokesperson for the Pinarayi faction of the party and was one of the candidates considered for the position of district secretary this time.
