THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A yellow alert has been issued for ten districts in Kerala in view of the rising temperature. The alert has been issued in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.

The maximum temperature in Palakkad district is likely to rise to 38 degrees Celsius and in Thrissur and Kollam districts to 37 degrees Celsius today. The Indian Meteorological Department has informed that the maximum temperature in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts is likely to rise to 36 degrees Celsius (2-3 degrees Celsius higher than normal).

The waves will be 0.9 to 1.2 meters high in Thiruvananthapuram district (from Kappil to Poovar) from 08.30 am tomorrow to 11.30 pm on March 12. The National Oceanographic Research Centre (NORC) has informed that there is a possibility of coastal erosion due to high waves of 0.8 to 1.2 meters as part of the Kallakadal (swell surge waves) phenomenon in Kollam district (from Alappad to Edava) from 08.30 am tomorrow to 11.30 pm on March 12.

IMD has informed that there is a possibility of rain in various districts tomorrow and the day after.

A yellow alert has been issued in the following districts. The possibility of isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where rain of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is received in 24 hours.
