Actress Meena expressed that she has been uniquely fortunate in South Indian cinema, unlike any other actress. She fondly remembers a remark made by actor Vijay about her on stage, which she still takes pride in. Meena shared these thoughts in a recent interview on a YouTube channel.
"At one event, actor Vijay mentioned that he is my fan. I felt immense pride when I heard that. I never expected it. I started acting as a heroine when I was just 13 years old. When I got the opportunity, my parents were quite anxious about it. Several years have passed, and I'm still working in the industry. I've acted in many films.
When I got married, I thought I would stop acting and live a family life. However, that didn't happen. I continued acting. I never expected that I would get more opportunities. When COVID struck, the world came to a standstill, but Mohanlal Sir said that Malayalam cinema was still able to produce superhits even during that time. During the shoot of Drishyam 2, everyone was nervous. The shooting took place during the lockdown. I went to the shoot wearing a PPE kit.
In the film Oru Kochu Katha, I acted as Mammootty’s daughter. After some years, I acted as his girlfriend and later as his mother. Those are beautiful memories. I’ve also acted in Tamil films as Rajinikanth’s daughter and wife. I’ve done the same in Telugu as well. All of that was an extraordinary fortune. I entered the film industry at a young age. Back then, I didn’t even know much about cinema or acting. Many people would get me to act by telling me that if I did well, I’d be given chocolates.
I had missed many superhit films due to my busy schedule. I lost the chance to act alongside Mohanlal and Mammootty in Harikrishnans. I also missed out on Thevar Magan, directed by Bharathan sir. I couldn’t act in Padayappa. When I heard that Prithviraj would play my son in the movie Bro Daddy, I was shocked. I even asked producer Antony if there was a misunderstanding. However, Prithviraj explained it well, and I understood," Meena said.
