THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There will be a flower shower from the sky as usual on the 13th March, the day of Pongala, at 10:00 am. It was announced in the ministerial review meeting that there will be no flower shower due to maintenance work on the runway at the airport. However, work at the airport will be temporarily suspended on Pongala day.

Trust officials informed that permission has been received to conduct a flower shower on Pongala day under the leadership of the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aviation Technology. The temple trust officials had earlier been informed by the Collectorate that there will be no flower shower this time. However, the trust wanted the flower shower, which has been going on for more than 40 years, to be continued without interruption. The trust requested to Minister V.N. Vasavan in person. The decision to suspend the work on the runway was taken after he spoke to the Adani Group officials. If it is not possible from Thiruvananthapuram, the trust has also explored the possibility of carrying out a flower shower by air from any other nearest airport. One of the planes will fly 1000 feet above the temple premises and shower flowers on the temple premises, while the second plane will circle over the city and scatter flowers on the Pongala pots.
