KOCHI: The General Body meeting of the High Court Lawyers Association decided not to implement the decision to boycott Justice A. Badharudheen’s court on the complaint that he misbehaved with a woman lawyer while considering a case. However, the association will send a letter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court requesting that Justice Badharudheen be transferred to some other high court.

The General Body decided to suspend and take disciplinary action against Senior Advocate George Poonthottam for settling the matter without the association's knowledge.

Justice A Badharudheen came to the sitting on Monday but returned after considering the urgent petitions. In the meantime, Justice Badharudheen expressed an apology to the woman lawyer inside the Chief Justice's chamber.

The general body met before the court session on Monday, as the woman lawyer requested the organisation to solve the case at the earliest. The association criticized that Adv. George tried to settle the case on his own even before waiting for the decision from the chief justice.

Despite the implementation of e-filing, the court proceedings were not video-recorded so the advocates' association demanded that the recording be implemented promptly like in other states. Otherwise, the association decided to refrain from court proceedings in future.
