KOTTAYAM: The court rejected the bail plea of Noby Luckose of Thodupuzha, accused in the suicide of his wife and daughters in Ettumanoor. The woman and her two daughters had committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. The bail plea was rejected by Ettumanoor Court. Noby will be in police custody for two days. The police arrested Noby on charges of abetment to suicide. A domestic harassment case has also been registered against him.
The police had opposed Noby’s bail plea. The police had submitted a report to the court stating that if the accused is released on bail, he will destroy evidence and this will affect the investigation.
The dead are Shiny Kuriakose (43) of Parolikkal and her daughters Aleena (11) and Ivana (10). Shiny and her children committed suicide on February 28. Noby had called Shiny on the previous day in an inebriated condition. He had told Shiny that he will not give her divorce and will not give money for the expenses of the children. In addition, Noby refused to pay off the loan taken for his father's treatment. This put Shiny in a difficult situation. The police said this led to the mass suicide.
Shiny estranged from her husband Noby Lucose was staying at her ancestral home in Parolikkal for the past nine months along with her two daughters. Shiny, a nurse, was disappointed for not getting a job. Aleena and Ivana were students of Thellakam Holy Cross School. Shiny's eldest son Edwin is a ninth-class student in a Sports School in Ernakulam.
