Late actress Sridevi was an indispensable dame of Bollywood and a rare haloed figure among cine actresses. Despite the height of stardom and opulent life, Sridevi had her share of sorrows which seemed straight out from a melodramatic Bollywood movie. Film director Aleppey Ashraf, who entered the industry during Sridevi’s era, has more insider details on her issue.

“She was the darling of Indian cinema who reached the pinnacle of stardom in Indian cinema which another actress couldn’t even dream about. She made her debut in Tamil as the heroine of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth. In Malayalam, Sridevi has mostly acted in films directed by I.V. Sasi.

In an interview allowed to a Malayalam channel, Sridevi said that acting alongside Malayalam cinema legend Prem Nazir is one of her most unforgettable experiences. She said those memories would stay with her forever and counted it as a blessing.

Sridevi stumbled on her Bollywood debut but her second film was a massive hit. Thus, Sridevi became the highest-paid actress in Hindi. During this time, a rumour spread that Sridevi was in a live-in relationship with Hindi actor Mithun Chakraborty. But that relationship did not last long. Even while wearing luxurious clothes, jewelry and traveling in a car worth crores, Sridevi was reeling in pain.

The actress desired a family life with him and planned to retire from movies. As this didn't work out, Sridevi became close to Hindi Producer Boney Kapoor. At that time, Boney Kapoor was married and his eldest child was older than Sridevi. Things started coming out as she dreamed. Children, family life and an ideal time to retire from movies. it took almost 15 years for her to return to cinema, and she grabbed a national award on her homecoming. On February 18, 2018, Sridevi, her husband, and her youngest daughter arrived in Dubai to attend a wedding.

After the wedding, Boney Kapoor and his younger daughter returned to India. Sridevi moved into a 56-story, 400-room hotel in the Jumeirah Emirates Tower in Dubai.

Boney Kapoor returned to Dubai on the 24th. That same night, Sridevi was found dead in the bathtub of her hotel room. She had an insurance policy of Rs 200 crore in her name. Many theories and possibilities of her death got discussed in the public domain, with some also pointing fingers at Boney Kapoor.

Boney Kapoor was taken into custody by Dubai Police. A lie detector test was conducted. Finally, the Dubai Police ruled that it was a natural death. Some believe Sridevi died due to unscientific dieting practices”
