WAYANAD: A roadside vendor died after hit by a police jeep in Mananthavady. The dead is Sreedharan aged 65. The vehicle of the Ambalavayal police lost control and overturned in Valliyoorkavu. The incident happened this afternoon at 3 pm. The incident happened when the police officials were taking an accused in a theft case to the court in Bathery.

Apart from the accused, there were three cops in the vehicle. The locals said the vehicle losing control overturned after fatally knocking Sreedharan down. All five were taken to the hospital but the life of Sreedharan could not be saved.

Meantime, a taurus lorry overturned in Ernakulam’s Valayanchirangara this morning injuring students. The incident happened in front of ITC in Valayanchirangara. Driver Akhil, ITC first year students Aditya Chandran and Joel Juliet were injured when the taurus coming from the Pizhakkappilly side overturned. Akhil has been admitted to the hospital with injuries. The students were injured after the mud and stones fell from the lorry. Their injuries are not serious.
