THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Syro-Malabar Church Public Affairs Commission has stated that there is a basis for the remarks made by BJP leader P.C. George regarding the spread of drugs, love traps, and terrorism in the state. The Commission called on both the central and state governments to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the issues raised by P.C. George by ensuring the privacy of the victims. The Commission came forward in support of George's statements following widespread criticism of his speech at an anti-drug event in Pala.

"There is a basis for George's comments on the spread of drugs, love traps, and terrorism. The attempts to create controversies around these issues and interpret them religiously are condemnable. There have been continuous reports regarding the disasters caused by drugs and love traps. Recently, in an interview with a prominent news channel, a young man who had been freed from drug addiction revealed details about love traps," Syro-Malabar Church Public Affairs Commission stated.

"Additionally, the discovery of large-scale stockpiles of explosives and weapons in the state is raising concerns. The international connections involved in these activities make the situation even more alarming. It is the responsibility of every citizen, regardless of caste or religion, to isolate religious nationalists and protect the essence of democracy. Therefore, everyone must adopt positions that protect national security and ensure peaceful lives for the citizens, without justifying terrorism in the name of religion or politics," it added.

The Syro-Malabar Public Affairs Commission urged the central and state governments to conduct high-level investigations into the issues raised by P.C. George, while ensuring the privacy and safety of the victims and their families.
