KOCHI: There was a major ganja haul in the boys' hostel of Kalamassery Govt Polytechnic College. Reports said about two kilos of ganja were seized. The police have arrested three students. 1.9 kg of ganja was found in the room of Akash of Kollam. The remaining ganja was seized from the rooms of Adithyan of Alappuzha and Abhiraj of Kollam. Many things including a weighing machine was also seized.


The ganja was found in a search conducted by the Kochi police. The police conducted a search for about seven hours at the Kalamassery Polytechnic. The search which began at 9 pm last night ended Friday morning at 4 am.


Not only ganja, liquor bottles were also found from the hostel. The police said the students stored ganja for sale. The one who brought the ganja has been identified. Seeing police, some students ran away from the place. They are also being investigated.


The police arrived based on information that students had stored a large quantity of intoxicants in the hostel for Holi celebrations. The department of technical education will also conduct an investigation into the incident. The joint director is in charge of the investigation.


KSU state president Aloysius Xavier responded that the incident of finding cannabis in the hostel is a serious issue. He also demanded a detailed investigation.
