BENGALURU: With just a week left for the start of the IPL, there is good news for Malayali fans. Malayali superstar Sanju Samson has passed the fitness test conducted after undergoing surgery for a hand injury. The tests were related to batting. The wicketkeeper-batsman will have to undergo some related tests. Only if he passes this will he be able to play in the first match of the IPL.

Fans are expecting Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju to be in the team from the start of the season. Rajasthan has Dhruv Jurel in the team as a backup wicketkeeper. However, if the in-form opening batsman does not play, it will be a concern for Rajasthan. Rajasthan's first match of the season is against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23.

Sanju Samson was injured in the final match of the T20 series against England in January. The player fractured his index finger with a ball bowled by English pacer Jofra Archer. Sanju Samson was dismissed after hitting Jofra Archer's ball for a six with an injured hand. When India came out to bat first, Sanju did not come out to the field. It was Jurel who stood behind the wicket instead.
