KOLLAM: The Devaswom Vigilance will investigate the Kadakkal temple festival controversy. Devaswom Board President P. S. Prashanth confirmed the news after controversy erupted following revolutionary songs glorifying the communist party and DYFI were performed during the temple festival. Devaswom Board President ensured proper action after receiving the report.

The Devaswom Vigilance SP has been asked to investigate and submit a report. Prashanth said that the devaswom is bereft of any political leanings and promised to discuss the matter in the next Devaswom Board meeting.

There is an existing rule from court that prohibits the use of any political party flags during temple festivals. The preliminary report pointed out lapses from the advisory committee of the temple.

The controversy broke out after singer Aloshi Adam sang revolutionary songs during the temple festival program while the background LED display showed images of DYFI and CPM. Aloshi's program was held on March 10, the ninth day of the festival. Temple committee explained that the song was performed duly following the request from the crowd. What turned the issue worse was the display of LDF symbol on the LED display during the performance.
