MALAPPURAM: Police say there is nothing unusual in the incident of vlogger Junaid's death in an accident in Manjeri. The initial conclusion of the police is that drunk driving was the cause of the accident. The presence of alcohol has been found in Junaid's body. The current decision is to send a blood sample for testing.
The police had examined the CCTV footage of the accident site. Someone had called the police control room and informed that Junaid was driving dangerously. His statement will also be collected. Junaid died on Friday. The accident occurred when the bike lost control and crashed into a sand mound at the Marathani bend in Karakunnu, Manjeri and overturned. He sustained injuries on the back of his head. He was admitted to the Manjeri Medical College Hospital, but his life could not be saved. The accident occurred while he was returning home to Vazhikkadavu after signing at Malappuram station as part of a case.
Meanwhile, director Sanalkumar Sasidharan has come forward alleging that there is a mystery behind the accident. "He died at a time when the public sphere was filled with videos and posts that were defaming him. We don't even know if he died or was killed," Sanalkumar Sasidharan wrote on social media.
"This death is very mysterious. He was arrested a few days ago on a rape complaint. When I noticed a hate campaign against him in connection with that, I felt that it was on a larger scale than it could have been. I searched several news outlets to find his vlog. None of them had his full name. It didn't say which vlog he was on. It just said that vlogger Junaid died in an accident. He can no longer prove whether he is innocent or not," Sanalkumar Sasidharan wrote.
