THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A hospital employee has been suspended in the incident where body parts sent for examination at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital went missing. A housekeeping employee, Ajayakumar, was suspended. The action was taken because the body parts were taken by the scrap collector. The samples sent for examination at the pathology lab were recovered from the scrap collector. The collector gave a statement that he took it thinking it was scrap. The police said that a detailed investigation will be conducted into the incident.

The body parts were brought to the specimen lab near the pathology lab this morning. When the employees returned, the body parts were not found. They then informed the police. The scrap collector who wandered around the lab was caught during the subsequent inspection. The police, who questioned the scrap collector, did not take him into custody as it was not a deliberate theft. Meanwhile, the head of the pathology department, Dr. Laila Raji, responded to the media. Since they were stored in formalin, the body parts were not damaged. The examination of the body parts can be continued without any issue. The scrap collector took them away when the employee left them on the steps near the specimen lab. The body parts were later transferred to the lab.
