THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Temperatures will rise in seven districts in the state today. There is a yellow alert in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kannur districts. The temperature will rise to 38 degrees in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad and Thrissur districts; 37 degrees in Alappuzha district; 36 degrees in Kottayam and Kannur districts; 35 degrees in Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kasaragod districts; 34 degrees in Thiruvananthapuram district and 33 degrees in Idukki and Wayanad districts. The UV index in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Idukki, Palakkad and Malappuram districts is also high. People in these districts should avoid direct exposure to sunlight from 11 am to 3 pm.
