KOCHI: Sheela Sunny, the owner of the beauty parlour in Chalakudy, who was accused in a fake LSD case, gave her statement to the special investigation team. While talking to the media, she said that she told police what she knows and that the excise has a role in the case. She also said that her life has been shattered due to the case.
'I have approached the court seeking compensation. I have demanded a compensation of Rs 72 lakh. The case has shattered my life. I earned a living from the beauty parlor. I could not take it forward. Even though my innocence was proven in the case, many of my relatives still look at me with suspicion. There are some who have not even consoled me,' she said.
The special investigation team head, DySP V K Raju, said that an investigation has been started in the case and that it can be said only after examining the statements whether there are more accused. The case was transferred to the Kerala Police as per the directions of the high court. The investigation is to be completed within three months. The investigation will include the conspiracy against Sheela Sunny. On March 27, 2023, some items like LSD stamps were seized from Sheela Sunny's scooter and bag. Sheela Sunny spent nearly 72 days in jail. After chemical tests revealed that it was fake drugs, Sheela was cleared of the charge.
The investigation team found that Narayana Das of Tripunithura, had informed the excise officials about the matter after placing the drugs in Sheela Sunny's vehicle. Narayana Das was also a friend of Livia Jose, Sheela Sunny's son’s sister-in-law.
Narayana Das informed the excise after placing the fake LSD stamp in Sheela Sunny's vehicle as requested by Livia. Although the complaint by the medical examiner revealed that it was a fake LSD stamp, the excise team concealed this information. The incident stoked a major controversy after the report was released.
The Supreme Court had earlier rejected the anticipatory bail of Narayana Das, the accused in the incident. The court had verbally said that Narayana Das should not expect any sympathy from the court. Sheela Sunny, who was not an accused, has been in jail for nearly 72 days. However, the court pointed that Narayana Das has not even been in jail for 72 hours.
