KOCHI: Dr Usha K Aravind, Professor at the School of Environmental Studies, Cochin University, once again found her place in the monthly list of top scientists by SheRNI, the She Research Network in India.

Dr Usha is among six women on the Scientist of the Month list. They are selected based on their research, dissertation, studies, and their contribution to society. Dr Usha has been featured several times since the launch of SheRNI in March last year. She was also featured in the list of top scientists in the AD Scientific Index in 2021 and 22.

Usha joined the CUSAT School of Environmental Studies in 2019. Before that, she was at the Advanced Center of Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development at MG University.

Dr Usha, a native of Kolladavampadam, Palakkad, studied at CUSAT. Her husband is MG University Vice Chancellor Prof. C.T. Aravind Kumar. Son: Dr Manu Aravind.

Usha blames the current contaminated air and water for the increase in diseases like cancer, memory loss, and conditions like autism. The water purification method developed by Usha is very popular in Rajasthan. IIT Jodhpur has even patented it.
