MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court made a big decision in the divorce of cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma. The Bombay High Court overturned the family court order that denied Chahal's request to waive the cooling off period for the divorce. A bench of Justice Madhav Jamdar directed the family court to consider Chaahl’s divorce plea tomorrow minding the cricketer’s participation in IPL beginning on March 22.

According to reports, Chahal and Dhanashree married in 2020, but started living separately in 2022. It was in 2025 February that the couple moved to Bandra Family Court with a divorce plea. In normal cases, the court will mandatorily allow a cooling-off period of six months to see any chances of reconciliation between the couples. However, the Bombay court deemed this unwanted in the case since Chahal and Dhanashree have been living separately since 2022.

As per reports, the cricketer has agreed to pay Verma an alimony of Rs 4 crore 75 lakhs. To date, Chahal has paid Rs 2 crore 37 lakhs and 55 thousand. The family court took up the issue and cited non-compliance from Chahal in not completing the agreed payment. The court later denied his cooling-off period plea. However now, the Bombay court has overturned this decision while the family court will pronounce the final decision in the case tomorrow.
