KANNUR: The arrest of the accused in the murder of a local BJP leader has been recorded. The arrest of Santhosh of Perumpadavu, accused in the murder of K K Radhakrishnan (51) of Kaithapram was recorded.

Personal enmity led to the murder. Radhakrishnan's wife and Santhosh were classmates. The FIR said the enmity for not being able to continue the friendship with her led Santhosh to commit the murder.

Santhosh is unmarried. Radhakrishnan has a wife and two children. His body will be handed over to his relatives after the postmortem. He will be laid to rest today. The accused was in an inebriated condition while committing the crime. He committed the crime after posting a threat message on Facebook. The murder was committed at Radhakrishnan's under-construction house at around 6:30 pm yesterday.

When neighbors rushed after hearing the gunshots, found Radhakrishnan lying in a pool of blood. Although he was immediately taken to the hospital, his life could not be saved. At this time, Santhosh put another post on Facebook.

Santhosh was found in a search conducted by the police. The crime was committed using a country-made gun and the police could not find that. The police will conduct a search at many places including nearby wells. The police said the accused will be questioned in detail.
