KOZHIKODE: The Indian meteorological department warned of the possibility of a heat surge in the state during the coming days. As a precautionary measure, a yellow alert has been issued in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
In this situation, the general public should be cautious and avoid direct sun exposure between 11 am and 3 pm, the Meteorological Department warned. With the heat, the level of ultraviolet radiation is also soaring. There has been an increase in the UV index level in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
Those engaged in outdoor work, fishermen in the sea, those in water transport, bikers, tourists, and people with skin diseases, should be extremely cautious of the torturous heat that has now engulfed the state. It is advisable to wear cotton clothes that cover the entire body. Try to rest in the shade during breaks while travelling.
