KOCHI: Police will register a case against the mother of the sexually assaulted two minor girls in Kuruppampady Kochi. According to police, the mother was aware of her male friend assaulting her daughters.
The police are again recording the statement of the mother. A case will be filed against her for concealing the rape despite knowing the hard truth. The police also recorded the confidential statements of the two minor victims. The children's confidential statements were recorded before the Perumbavoor Magistrate.
Kuruppampady native Dhanesh, a taxi driver and the friend of the victims' mother was arrested yesterday in the case. Dhanesh even tried to assault the victims' friends which brought out the horrific details of abuse.
Dhanesh is in remand. The girls have been shifted to the shelter home of the Child Welfare Committee. The accused started a relationship with the children's mother after the death of their father. The children saw Dhanesh as a stepfather. The accused misused this role to abuse the girls.
According to police, Dhanesh had been abusing the two girls for almost two years. The eldest girl wrote a letter to her friend, saying, "Our father wants to see you. Please come home." The friend's mother chanced upon the letter and felt suspicious. The information about abuse saw light when the elder girl talked about the shady details when brought for counselling.
