THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: For the first time in the history of Kerala's public education, textbooks for Class 10 are being published and distributed even before the completion of Class 9 examinations. Education Minister V. Sivankutty announced that the distribution of all textbooks will be completed by May.

The official release and distribution of Class 10 textbooks will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on March 25 in the Chief Minister's chamber at the Legislative Assembly. The distribution of textbooks for other classes will begin in the second week of April, according to the Minister’s office.

The curriculum revision efforts aimed at enhancing the quality of public education are nearing completion. Last year, the printing of 1.8 crore textbooks covering 205 titles for Classes 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 — which underwent curriculum revision — was completed and the books were already delivered to schools.

This year, the printing of 2 crore textbooks across 238 titles for the revised Classes 2, 4, 6, and 8 is progressing. Minister V. Sivankutty stated that the General Education Department is set to create history by delivering all textbooks to schools before the summer vacation begins.
