THRISSUR: Residents of Thrissur were surprised to witness foam rain accompanying regular rainfall. The unusual phenomenon was observed in the Ammadam and Kodannoor areas of the district on Saturday evening, leaving locals both intrigued. In special weather conditions, raindrops falling on trees can create foam. If there are factories nearby, there is a possibility of foam formation when it rains.

Many did not understand what was happening after the foam rain occurred following a light drizzle. Children played with the foam in their hands, while adults enquired about the matter. They later got the confirmation that the incident was foam rain. Heavy rain fell in various places in Thrissur in the evening.

A warning has been issued for heavy rain in seven districts of the state on Saturday. A yellow alert has also been issued in these districts. The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of the possibility of heavy rain in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad.

A yellow alert has been issued in two districts of Kerala on Sunday (March 23). There is a possibility of heavy rain in Wayanad and Malappuram districts. The possibility of rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm has been predicted.
