THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The indefinite hunger strike by ASHA workers in front of the secretariat to achieve their rights has completed three days. All ASHAs will hold a collective fast tomorrow in support of the three ASHAs who are on hunger strike. The fast is in front of the district centres and PHC centres.

R Sheeja, who has been on a hunger strike since the first day, was shifted to the General Hospital yesterday due to chest pain. She was suffering from dehydration due to the intense heat. Although her health condition is satisfactory, she has been shifted home. She will return to the protest camp as her health improves. Currently, ASHA workers Shobha, ASHA Health Workers Association State General Secretary M.A. Bindu and Thankamani are on hunger strike. Despite the physical discomfort of the ASHA workers, no government doctor has come to check them. Doctors from private clinics came voluntarily. Meanwhile, ASHA workers from Kasaragod came yesterday to express solidarity with the ASHA workers.

Minister's statement is a blatant lie: K. Muraleedharan

K Muraleedharan, who visited the protest site, said that Minister Veena George's statement that she went to Delhi and could not meet the Health Minister is a blatant lie. "The Health Minister returned after meeting only the Cuban Minister. Pinarayi should not think that the protest can be suppressed by threats," he added. Adoor Prakash MP said that a planned move is being made under the leadership of the CPM to humiliate the ASHAs. Former KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran said that the ASHAs are writing a new chapter in the history of protest.

Scholarship amount for the strike

Arnav Mammen Cherian, a third-grade student of Sarvodaya Central School in Nalanchira, donated the PCM scholarship amount he received for the strike.
