VADAKKENCHERRY: Police have arrested a man accused of trying to kill a police officer during a drug seizure operation. The arrested individual, Prathul, aged 20, is a resident of Kannambara Chunnampthara, Poolakkalparambu. The incident occurred on Monday at 8 PM on the National Highway in Chemmanamkunnu.

The police had received information about drug sales in the area and arrived on three motorcycles to investigate. The team consisted of ASI Uwais (46) from Vadakkencherry Police Station, Senior Civil Police Officers Rinu Mohan, Laiju, Blesson Joseph, Abdul Jalal, and Civil Police Officer Riyasuddin. When they asked the driver of a suspicious car to step out of the vehicle, he sped away after hitting the officers' bike.

ASI Uwais suffered a serious leg injury, and Senior Civil Police Officer Laiju was also hurt. Despite efforts by Vadakkancherry SI Madhubalakrishnan and his team to pursue the suspect, he initially managed to escape. However, the police traced him using the vehicle's registration number and arrested him on Tuesday morning in Karukachal, Kottayam. They also seized MDMA from the accused.

According to the police, Prathul is a habitual drug dealer in the Kannambara area. He has been charged with attempted murder, and further legal actions will follow after he is brought to Vadakkancherry Police Station.
