KILIMANOOR: A young man died after being beaten by his friend during a drunken argument. The accused has been taken into custody by the police. The deceased is Abhilash (28), son of Unni and Vatsala, of Kattumpuram, Arivarikuzhi Vadakkumkara, Puthen House in the limits of Kilimanoor police station. He was a tyre re-treading worker. His friend Arun (38), who also lives on rent near the Panthatikalam Anganwadi in Pulimath, has been taken into custody by the Kilimanoor police in connection with the incident. The incident took place around 6 pm yesterday. After work, the two reached Panthatikalam junction and drank together. The fight broke out after Abhilash allegedly grabbed Arun's girlfriend. The argument reportedly culminated in a fight and murder. Locals say that it is common for people to rent houses near the Panthatikalam Anganwadi and consume liquor.
