KOCHI: A woman threw hot solution on her husband following a verbal duel in Kochi. The solution, a mixture of coconut oil and hot water, was poured onto his body. The man who suffered 45 per cent burn is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ernakulam.

The injured is a 32-year-old native of Perumbavoor. The incident took place on the morning of the 19th but came to light after his father filed a complaint at Perumbavoor station on Thursday. Police said the fight broke out after the victim's wife happened to see a photo of her husband with another woman on his mobile phone. The two got into an argument around 7:30 in the morning over this. Later, she poured the hot solution onto his body.

The husband, who suffered severe burns on his chest, hands, and thighs, was taken to Ernakulam after being given first aid at a local private hospital. The husband initially told the hospital authorities that he was injured in an accident. Following the complaint, the police conducted a site inspection at the house and collected evidence.

Assistant Police Commissioner Shakti Singh, who is in charge of Perumbavoor DySP, said that further action, including arrests, would be taken after investigation.
