KALADY: A Nepali woman and her friend, both under the influence of alcohol, attacked a police team conducting a night patrol to track down drug distribution gangs. Four police officers, including a sub-inspector, were injured in the incident. Following the attack, Ayyampuzha police arrested the suspects—Sanchmaaya Limb (38) and her friend Suman (36).

The incident took place around 2 AM on Friday near a deserted rubber plantation in the Kuttippara Church area of Ayyampuzha. The duo, who were sitting on a scooter, attempted to flee upon seeing the police. However, the sub-inspector and his team chased them down and intercepted them for questioning. It was at this point that the two launched an attack on the officers.

Sub-Inspector George was struck in the face, while woman ASI Rose and senior CPOs Prasad and Arun sustained serious injuries. One officer was bitten on both hands. The woman, who was heavily drunk, was reportedly the most aggressive. The police struggled to bring the two under control and take them to the station.

The injured officers were admitted to the hospital. The suspects, who work as dairy farm laborers in Manjapra, Kalady, had traveled nearly eight kilometers before reaching Ayyampuzha. Both were presented before the court and remanded in custody.
