PATNA: Kanhaiya Kumar, during his "Stop Migration, Provide Jobs" campaign, visited the Goddess Durga temple in Bangaavi Bhagavatisthan, Bihar. At the temple, he addressed the public at the mandapam within the premises. His campaign aims to highlight issues like unemployment and migration in the state.
The day after his visit, a group led by the ward councillor cleaned the mandapam with Ganga water, claiming it was an act of purification. This act has stirred controversy, especially as Bihar gears up for assembly elections. Videos of the cleaning went viral, drawing attention to the incident.
The Congress party has strongly criticised the cleaning, calling it an example of untouchability. Congress spokesperson Gyan Ranjan Gupta questioned whether only RSS and BJP supporters are considered devotees. Meanwhile, BJP representatives have interpreted the cleaning as a rejection of Kanhaiya Kumar's political ideology. Some local residents believe the cleaning might have been orchestrated by mischief-makers.
The incident has added fuel to the political debates in Bihar, with Kanhaiya Kumar yet to comment on the matter.
