PALAKKAD: A woman suffered an injury when a driller pierced the area under her tongue during a dental procedure to remove a clip from her tooth. The shocking incident occurred at a private dental hospital in Alathur, Palakkad. The victim has been identified as Gayathri Sooraj, a native of Vinayaka Nagar, Kavassery.

Following the incident, the woman filed a complaint against the dental care hospital with the police. Based on her complaint, a case has been registered. The mishap happened on March 22 during a procedure to remove gum material placed between her teeth.

As the injury was severe, Gayathri sought further treatment at the district hospital. A complaint has also been lodged with the District Medical Officer against "Juvin’s Dental Care Center" in Alathur. An investigation is underway to determine any lapses in the procedure.
