MUMBAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the RSS headquarters in Nagpur. Modi, who arrived at the Nagpur airport Sunday morning, was received by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister to visit the RSS headquarters. This is Modi's first visit after becoming the Prime Minister. Modi last visited the RSS headquarters in 2013.
During the visit, the Prime Minister offered flowers at the Smriti Mandir of RSS founder Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was also present. He also paid his respects to B R Ambedkar at Deekshabhoomi where the architect of India’s Constitution converted to Buddhism. Modi will participate in the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre at Nagpur which will be built as part of the Madhav Netralaya Hospital, established in memory of RSS founder Golwalkar.
The RSS has responded that the Prime Minister's visit is historic. RSS leader Ashutosh Adoni said that the Prime Minister has acknowledged the contributions of the RSS. Modi wrote in the visitors' book that the RSS is an inspiration to serve the country. Modi's visit comes at a time when the RSS is completing 100 years. The anniversary celebrations begin in October. Modi has shared information and pictures of his visit to the RSS headquarters on social media.
