THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Muslims in Kerala are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today. After a month-long fast, the devout Muslims celebrate Eid with purified minds and hearts. Everyone welcomed Eid with a clear heart, repenting to the Creator for the immoral acts and evils committed till date, apologizing to others. Eid prayers were held at various places under the leadership of Eidgah committees. Everyone returned home wearing new clothes, embracing each other and sharing happiness.

This is a time when many social evils, including drug addiction, are rising in the society. Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musliyar said that Eid should be used as an opportunity to fight against these immoral trends that are destroying peaceful life.

'Irrespective of generation, children, teenagers and youth should be encouraged to participate in good deeds and move against evils. ‘Let us ensure the social aspect of the celebrations by providing the necessary necessities to all the people around us, including hospitals, senior citizens' centers, and those living on the streets. On this auspicious day of Eid, which is celebrated in the spiritual purity of fasting, let us take an anti-drug and anti-violence pledge and start practicing being good human beings,’ he said.

Meantime, priests and scholars have specifically advised that the celebrations should not go beyond the limits. The police have announced that strict action will be taken against youths who take to the roads with bikes on Eid.
