KIZHAKKAMBALAM: The young political outfit of Kerala 'Twenty20 Party' decided to pay 25 percent of the electricity and cooking gas bills of households in the two gram panchayats (Kizhakkambalam and Aikaranad) where they are in power.

Even after completing development works, Rs 25 crore was left in Kizhakkambalam and Rs 12 crore in Aikaranad. This share will be given to the people, said Sabu M Jacob, president of the Twenty20 Party, at a press conference. 25 percent of the bills will be paid to the customers' accounts. This will later be increased to 50 percent. All ration card holders will get the benefits.

According to Sabu, eradicating corruption and implementing development and welfare projects helped the party to allocate surplus money for the people. In both panchayats, roads and bridges are built to high standards, making maintenance work unnecessary. The surplus was achieved by eliminating unnecessary expenses and increasing income. This is the first time in the country that two Panchayats were able to accumulate such a high amount of surplus.

Panchayat presidents Mini Ratheesh (Kizhakkambalam), Deena Deepak (Aikarnad), vice presidents Jinsi Aji (Kizhakkambalam), Prasanna Pradeep (Aikarnad), and Kizhakkambalam Development Standing Committee member K.A. Binu participated in the press conference.
