THRISSUR: The BJP leadership took action against the former district committee member who filed a petition in the High Court against the movie Empuraan. BJP leader and former Thrissur district committee member VV Vijeesh was suspended from the primary membership of the BJP.

Thrissur City BJP District President Justin Jacob ruled out BJP having any connection with Vijeesh’s complaint. According to Justin, the party has not assigned anyone to file such petitions. BJP worker VV Vijeesh filed a petition in the High Court seeking a ban on the screening. The petition alleges that the film promotes anti-nationalism and paves the way for religious hatred.

In addition to Mohanlal, Prithviraj, and Antony Perumbavoor, the central government has also been made opposing parties. The state police and the Enforcement Directorate have also been made opposing parties in the petition.

The petition alleged the film showed the Union Ministry of Defense and the National Investigation Agency in bad light. Justin Jacob warned serious action against members who are acting contrary to the party norms.
