VADAKARA: EV Sreedharan (79), a prominent writer and journalist who penned countless stories of love and heartbreak, passed away at 5:30 am on Wednesday at a private hospital in Vadakara following a respiratory illness. He was undergoing treatment for pneumonia. Sreedharan was staying with his niece, Rasiya Haridas, at the Padavathil house in Vallikkadu, Vadakara.

Sreedharan is the son of the late Panchamparampath Gopalan and Mathu from Chombala. Sreedharan started his journalism career at Sameeksha, founded by M. Govindan.

He was a member of the editorial board of Keralakaumudi, Kalakaumudi and Veekashanam. He has written many notable articles, stories and novels. After working in Thiruvananthapuram for a long time, Sreedharan moved to Vadakara due to health problems.

‘Elikalum Pathradhiparum’, ‘Thamarakulathe Ammukutty’, and ‘Onnam Prathi’ are a few of his notable works.

Sreedharan was a close friend of prominent writers and a disciple of luminary writer M Govindan. Sreedharan is unmarried.
