THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alert in eight districts in the state today. Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad are on yellow alert. Isolated heavy rain is likely today. There is a possibility of strong winds and thundershowers along with the rain. The IMD has informed that isolated places in Kerala will receive rain with thundershowers and strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph from today to April 5.
The districts where yellow alert has been issued are likely to receive 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain in 24 hours. The possibility of isolated heavy rain is also predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is expected in 24 hours.
