ALUVA: Law student Atul P Shabu (21), son of Adv. H P Shabu was found dead in Aluva Periyar on Thursday. A second-year LLB student at the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) in Kalamassery, Atul, went missing from his rented accommodation in Manalimukku on Wednesday.

Police soon found his bike and mobile phone abandoned on the Aluva Marthandavarma bridge at night and examined it. The Aluva Fire Department then searched the river but could not find him.

Atul's body was recovered from Periyar at 9 am yesterday during a search operation conducted by the Aluva scuba team.

The funeral will be held today at 11 am at Palayam St. Mary's Church Cemetery.
