KANNUR: A female police was injured after a policeman accidentally fired a gun while cleaning it. The incident took place at the Thalassery Police Station in Kannur on Wednesday.

The female police officer sustained a leg injury when a ricochet from the bullet struck her on her leg. Following the incident, CPO Subin, who fired the gun, was suspended. Subin was on sentry duty when the incident took place. The incident reportedly happened during a shift change. The suspension was issued citing a lapse in safety protocols.
