KOZHIKODE: A housewife died after being struck by lightning in Chathamangalam. The deceased is Fathima of Thathoor. The incident took place around 5 pm today. She was injured when she was struck by lightning while standing outside her house. She was immediately taken to a private hospital, but her life could not be saved. The body will be shifted to the morgue. It will be handed over to the family after the postmortem.

NREGA workers struck by lightning

Seven NREGA workers were struck by lightning in Mundakayam. The injured were admitted to Mundakayam Hospital. They were working in the Keechampara area when they were struck by lightning.The incident took place around 3 pm today. Thirty-six workers were at the scene. When the rain started, the workers were sitting on the veranda of a nearby house. In the meantime, seven people were struck by lightning.

Elderly man dies

An elderly man died after a stone fell on his body during heavy rains in Idukki. The deceased has been identified as Ayyav, a native of Tamil Nadu living in Sulthaniya. The accident occurred while he was working on a cardamom plantation. The injured Ayyav was rushed to the hospital by locals, but his life could not be saved. The body has been kept in the hospital. It will be handed over to the family after the postmortem. There are reports that a house in Nedumkandam was damaged by lightning. Water entered the Canara Bank in Pathanamthitta.

Yellow alert in six districts

The Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the state in the coming hours. Yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts.The possibility of isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is received in 24 hours.
