tipper-lorry

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A tipper lorry carrying sand lost control and ran into vehicles on the Medical College Ulloor Road. The accident injured people including motorists. Several vehicles were damaged.

The incident took place at 7 pm. The accident took place during rush hour. While vehicles were moving in a row, the tipper lorry suddenly increased in speed. The tipper lorry, which hit the vehicles in front and entered the pavement, hit an electric post and destroyed it. It then overturned into a pit dug to install cables in front of the Kunnil Hypermarket.

The injured tipper lorry driver, Sreesanth (40), a native of Malayam, auto-rickshaw driver Joy Francis (47) who is a native of Chullimanoor, and a lady who was the passenger in the auto were admitted to the emergency department of the Medical College Hospital. Hospital authorities say that none of the injuries are serious.

Several cars and two-wheelers parked on the roadside were damaged. No one was injured as they ran away after seeing the tipper lorry speeding out of control. The locals who rushed to the spot say that the driver was drunk.

It is estimated that a major accident was averted because the tipper lorry, which had gone out of control, fell into the cable pit. Traffic police and personnel from the Medical College Station reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
