chicken-theft

PORT ORCHARD (WASHINGTON): A 50-year-old man was arrested in Washington state after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home and stealing her beloved pet chicken, Polly. The incident occurred just hours after his release from jail. According to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, the man reportedly kicked down the door of the woman's residence in Port Orchard, yelling "I’ve got Polly" repeatedly before fleeing into nearby woods with the chicken in hand.

Deputies responded to the early morning distress call on March 29 and launched a search for the suspect. Bodycam footage captured the dramatic moment when officers located him hiding in bushes while still clutching Polly. The man, visibly distraught, pleaded with officers not to harm the chicken. One deputy reassured him calmly, saying, “I won’t hurt your chicken,” before taking him into custody. The suspect was allowed to place Polly safely in a patrol vehicle before being booked on charges of residential burglary and violating a protection order.

The Sheriff's Office confirmed that Polly was unharmed and returned to her owner. Social media users reacted humorously to the bizarre arrest after footage was shared online.

The victim revealed that she knew the suspect had recently been released from jail and appeared intent on taking her favorite chicken.
