KASARGOD: A train has to be halted following a verbal dispute between drivers of the buses that came face to face at the railway gate. The unusual incident happened at the Beericherry railway gate on the Kasaragod Thrikaripur-Payyannur route. The Kanyakumari-Dibrugarh Vivek Express, which was going to Mangaluru, had to be halted.
The incident happened Sunday afternoon at around 12.30 pm. While the private bus coming from Cheruvathur was crossing the railway gate, a private bus going from Payyannur to Thrikaripur came in front of it on the other side. A rear of one of the buses was pushed into the track where the train was coming. Despite being warned, the two bus drivers continued to argue and could not close the gate. The train then stopped 500 meters away from the railway gate. When the locals and the railway gate keeper intervened, the bus from Payyannur moved back. The train had to stay here for about five minutes. Due to this, the trains that came after it were also delayed.
