KOCHI: Actor Sreenath Bhasi has applied for anticipatory bail in the case of the seizure of hybrid ganja worth Rs 2 crore from Alappuzha. In his anticipatory bail application filed in the High Court, Sreenath Bhasi says that he is afraid of being arrested as an accused in the case. The bail application states that if Sreenath Bhasi is arrested, he is likely to be mentally and physically tortured and it will even affect the shooting of the films in which he is acting in the lead role.
Earlier this month, three kilos of hybrid ganja worth Rs 2 crore were seized from Taslima Sultana alias Christina and K. Firoz in Alappuzha. During subsequent interrogation, Taslima had said that she had sold ganja to film stars including Sreenath Bhasi. The actor admits in the petition that Taslima had come to see him in person but adds that he has no other dealings with her.
"She came to see me when the shooting of a film was going on in Kozhikode. At that time, she said her name was Christina. We met through a friend, and she said that she is a fan. She also got my phone number that day. Then on April 1, she called unexpectedly and asked, 'Do you need cannabis?'. Thinking that she was teasing me, I hung up the phone. Later, I received a message saying, 'Do as you wish.' I thought she was joking and replied 'wait' and did not reply to any of the other messages she sent," says Sreenath Bhasi. In his anticipatory bail petition filed in the High Court, Sreenath Bhasi says he has not sold drugs or committed any crime.
