MUMBAI: Writer and actress Tahira Kashyap revealed being diagnosed with cancer again after seven years. The actress survived the disease after being first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018. She had been constantly sharing posts about her battle with the disease. Now, the star herself has shared the news of her diagnosis through the social media platform Instagram.
Tahira Kashyap, wife of Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, says that regular screenings helped her get her cancer diagnosed early. Tahira recommended that people get mammograms regularly. Ironically, Tahira also noted that she is sharing this on World Health Day.
Cervical cancer can be prevented to some extent through regular screening and self-examination. Women with regular menstrual cycles should perform self-examinations immediately after their periods, and those without them should perform self-examinations at regular intervals, about a month apart. If the disease can be detected early through proper testing, it can be avoided, even requiring complete removal of the breast.
Breast cancer is the second most common cancer worldwide after lung cancer and the fifth most common cause of cancer-related deaths. In 2005, there were 502,000 deaths worldwide from breast cancer. This represents 7% of all cancer deaths and approximately 1% of all deaths.
